Teen Fantasy Faire
July 10 from 5:30-8:30pm
Calling all Hobbits, Elves, Dwarves, and Humans: Middle-earth is taking over the library!
The annual Teen Fantasy Faire is back, and you won't want to miss it. Fuel up at the Hobbit Feast, possibly win an epic prize, and craft your own middle earth keepsakes. Ready to test your skills? Compete against your friends in weapon challenges and see if you have the wits to solve Gollum’s riddles. To top it all off, we’re ending the night with a spectacular live, armored combat demonstration by the Knights of Gondor. Clear your schedule—the adventure awaits!
Register on the Event Page.
*Registration is optional but highly recommended, as space is limited to 150 Middle-earth creatures.
Ages 13-18 ONLY
FAQs:
Q: Can patrons bring weapons, such as swords, knives, axes, etc. A: Yes, ONLY IF 1) the blade is covered by a scabbard or the like, and 2) the weapon is peace tied so that it cannot be removed from its cover. Anyone using or brandishing a weapon or threatening others (outside of our sword training) will be immediately escorted from the building.
Q: If I am dressed as a Hobbit, do I need to wear shoes? A: Yes, shoes will still be required. I admire your dedication to authenticity. But unless you have a medical reason for bare feet, shoes will be necessary inside the library, even for hobbitses. We don’t want anyone injuring their precious (and possibly stinky) feet.

This is a call to adventure for brave souls from our own Middle Earth communities in the shadow of our own Misty Mountains to join a Fellowship of the Book. We will have copies of Tolkien's book The Return of the King that will each take a journey from one member of the fellowship to the next until all 9 members of each fellowship have completed the adventure. Each member will receive a designated color to annotate and tab the book as they read and will keep the book for about 20 days before passing it to the next in line. The books will complete their journey at our Hobbit Day Tea Party on Tuesday, September 22nd, when the full fellowship will gather to celebrate the journey's end for their book and peak at the contributions of their fellow adventurers! This is your ONE AND ONLY opportunity to write in a book you get from our library!!
Each Fellowship consists of 9 readers. Visit the Fellowship of the Book Website for more information.
