Pretreatment

Pretreatment helps protect Spanish Fork City’s sewer system, wastewater treatment plant, employees, and the environment by regulating non-domestic wastewater before it enters the sewer system.

All commercial, industrial, and other non-residential users are required to complete a Pretreatment Questionnaire as part of the annual business license renewal process. The City uses this information to determine whether a business may discharge wastewater that requires additional review, permitting, or treatment.

Hazardous waste is prohibited from being discharged into the sewer, storm drains, or waterways. Healthcare facilities and businesses that handle hazardous pharmaceuticals may also have additional requirements.
