Boards and Commissions

Spanish Fork City's boards, commissions, and committees give residents opportunities to get involved in their community. Most serve in an advisory role to the City Council, while some also carry out specific responsibilities established by City ordinance.

The Airport Board helps guide the development of the Spanish Fork Airport. The board reviews airport needs and makes recommendations to the Mayor and City Council regarding the airport, its facilities, and long-term planning.

The Arts Council promotes arts and culture throughout Spanish Fork. The council recommends City-sponsored cultural activities and events and encourages additional arts opportunities within the community.

The Development Review Committee (DRC) reviews the technical aspects of development and land use applications in Spanish Fork.

Unlike most City boards and commissions, the DRC does not include resident members. In certain situations established by the Spanish Fork Municipal Code, the DRC serves as the City's designated land use authority and is authorized to make decisions on land use applications.

The Fiesta Days Executive Committee helps plan and coordinate Spanish Fork's annual Fiesta Days celebration each July. The committee makes recommendations to the City Council regarding the celebration and helps organize activities associated with the event.

The Fiesta Days Rodeo Committee oversees the planning and production of the annual Fiesta Days Rodeo, including coordinating the services, contracts, and resources needed to operate the event.

The Historic Preservation Commission advises the City Council on identifying, preserving, and protecting Spanish Fork's historic and archaeological resources.

The commission also works to educate residents about historic preservation and the history of the Spanish Fork community.

The Library Board provides input and recommendations regarding the operation of the Spanish Fork Library, including library services, policies, fines and fees, and the care and use of library facilities.

The Miss Spanish Fork Pageant Committee organizes the annual Miss Spanish Fork competition and related activities.

The committee coordinates facilities, programs, awards, and other aspects of the event and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding the pageant.

The Parks & Recreation Committee advises the City Council on recreation facilities, programs, activities, and participation fees.

The committee helps provide community input as Spanish Fork plans and operates recreational opportunities for residents.

The Planning Commission reviews land use and development matters as established by the Spanish Fork Municipal Code.

The commission makes recommendations on certain land use issues and, in specific situations identified by City ordinance, serves as the City's land use authority with responsibility for making final decisions.

The RAP Program Committee helps determine how revenue generated by Spanish Fork's Recreation, Arts & Parks (RAP) tax is distributed to eligible community priorities, programs, and projects.

The Seniors Board provides recommendations to the City Council regarding programs, facilities, services, and fees for Spanish Fork's senior community.

The Urban Forestry Board advises the City Council on the planting, care, maintenance, and use of trees on City-owned property.

The board helps support a healthy and sustainable urban forest throughout Spanish Fork.

The Spanish Fork Youth City Council gives local students an opportunity to serve their community, develop leadership skills, and learn how local government works.

Youth City Council members are students in grades 9–12 from Spanish Fork-area schools. Members elect a youth mayor and council each year and participate in committees, community service projects, and other City activities.

Participants also have opportunities to meet other youth from throughout Spanish Fork and interact with local and state leaders.
