Spanish Fork Planning helps guide the City's growth and development through land use planning, zoning, development review and long-range planning. The division works with residents, property owners and developers to help ensure development is consistent with City plans, codes and community goals.
Quick Planning Resources
An accessory dwelling unit, or ADU, is a secondary living space located within a single-family home or in a permanent accessory structure. ADUs must meet City zoning, parking, building, and design requirements.
Key Requirements
- Owner occupancy is required.
- Only one ADU is allowed per single-family dwelling.
- Minimum lot size is 6,000 square feet.
- ADUs are allowed in most residential zones.
- Internal ADUs require at least 3 off-street parking spaces.
- External ADUs require at least 4 off-street parking spaces.
- ADUs must be registered with the Community Development Department.
- Impact fees and separate electric meters are not required.

ADUs must be registered annually through CitizenServe.
Annual fee: $60
Spanish Fork City construction standards provide requirements for public improvements and infrastructure associated with development projects. These standards are primarily intended for developers, engineers, contractors, and others working on City-reviewed projects.
