Spanish Fork's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trains residents to help themselves, their families and their community during emergencies when professional responders may be delayed. Spanish Fork was the first community in Utah to establish a CERT team.

Training is typically offered in April and October.

CERT training includes an online course followed by in-person training.

Step 1: Complete the Online Course

Complete the online CERT course at your own pace. After finishing, email your completion certificate to tsperry@spanishfork.gov.

Step 2: Attend In-Person Training

After completing the online portion, participants can attend Spanish Fork's in-person CERT training. The course is typically offered in April and October.

The in-person course costs $25 and includes response equipment such as a backpack, helmet, vest, safety glasses, work gloves and an N95 mask.

CERT training covers practical emergency response skills, including:

  • Emergency preparedness
  • First aid
  • Search and rescue
  • Fire suppression
  • Utility control
  • Disaster psychology
  • CERT organization
  • Incident Command System
  • Cribbing
  • Terrorism awareness
