Alarm Permits
Home and business alarm systems can help protect your property by alerting responsible parties and Public Safety when assistance may be needed.
Spanish Fork City requires all residential and business alarm systems to have a permit under City Code 9.44.
Permit Cost
Alarm permits are free and are issued by the Spanish Fork Police Department.
Fees only apply when a property has four or more false alarms during the same calendar year:
| False Alarms | Fee |
|---|---|
| First 3 | No charge |
| 4th | $50 |
| 5th | $75 |
| 6th–9th | $100 each |
| 10th and after | $200 each |
What Alarm Owners Need to Do
If you have an alarm system, you are responsible for:
-
Completing an Alarm Permit Application
-
Posting the permit sticker near the alarm control panel and on the building's front door
-
Providing contact information for responsible key holders who can respond within 30 minutes when requested
-
Keeping the Police Department updated when alarm system or contact information changes
Properties with unregistered alarm systems may still be charged false-alarm fees beginning with the fourth false alarm. Operating an alarm system without a valid permit may also result in enforcement under City Code.
